How to link your Google Ads Pixel?

How to Connect Google Ads Pixel (Step-by-Step Guide)

Learn how to integrate your Google Ads Pixel with wetracked.io to accurately track your campaign performance across your store.
This guide provides a complete step-by-step setup for Shopify, WooCommerce, and Funnelish users.

Before You Begin

Make sure you are logged in to your Google Ads Manager before starting.
This will ensure that you can access and create the necessary conversion actions right away.

Step 1: Open Your Store in wetracked.io

  1. Go to your app dashboard.
  2. Choose your store platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, or Funnelish).
  3. Open the store you want to connect your Google Ads Pixel to.

Step 2: Enable and Add Your Google Pixel

Scroll down to the Google Pixel section, toggle it ON, and click “Add Pixel.”

You’ll then need to enter your Conversion ID and Conversion Labels, which you’ll get from your Google Ads Manager later in this guide.

Step 3: Create a New Conversion Action in Google Ads for wetracked.io

In Google Ads Manager, go to
Goals → Summary → New Conversion Action (or Create New Conversion Action if one already exists).

Step 4: Choose data source

When setting up the conversion:

  • Select “Conversion on a website” and click "Edit" or "Edit Data sources" (Make sure to always select "Google Tag" in here
  • Enter your web page URL (e.g., www.sample.com). then "Scan" and hit "Done"
  • Choose Save and Continue to proceed

Step 5: Choose the Conversion Action Type

Google Ads supports four conversion types compatible with wetracked.io:

  • Purchase
  • Add to Cart
  • Begin Checkout
  • Pageview

Start with Purchase, then click Save and Continue. (see attached screenshot below)

Step 6: Configure “Purchase” Conversion Action

Follow these settings carefully for each step after selecting "Purchase":

  1. Add Conversion Action → select Google Tag

  1. Choose Manually with code then, proceed by clicking Conversion Settings to further customize the conversion configuration.

  1. As for customizing the "Conversion settings"
  • Choose "Primary action used for bidding optimization" under Action optimization. If your screen looks different, you can proceed for now. The necessary changes will be covered in a later step.
  • Since we initially select Purchase as our first conversion action.** Ensure that the conversion action is named Purchase (wetracked.io). This will prevent confusion with other existing conversion actions, especially if you are using additional or other tracking tools.

Then, configure as follows

  • ValueUse different values for each conversion and choose Set up using: Event Snippet
  • CountEvery
  • Enhanced ConversionsManaged through Google Tag"
  • If Enhanced Conversions does not provide the option to select Manage through Google Tag, leave it as is for now. Once you've finished creating all the conversion actions, you'll have the option to enable it.
  • Click Done once complete.

✅ That's it for PURCHASE Conversion action. Repeat this process for Add to Cart, Begin Checkout, and Pageview using the same structure.

  • You can now simply repeat the same process for Add to Cart, Begin Checkout, and Pageview, just select "Add another Category"
  • But keep in mind that for Pageview under "value" on Conversion settings *it should be set as "Don’t use a value for this conversion (optional)"
  • Please keep reading the instruction below

Google frequently updates its layout, so some users may have difficulty creating a Page View conversion.
When setting the Value option, you should normally select: Don’t use a value for this conversion (optional)

However, in Google’s newer layout, this option may not appear. If that happens:

  1. Select the first option: “Use different values for each conversion”
  2. Select the Event Snippet
  3. Edit the default value and set it to “0”

  • Move forward in creating the other labels for Pageview, Add to Cart and Begin/Initiate Checkout by selecting "Add another category"

📋 Step 7: Create All Four Conversion Actions

You should have four conversion actions created in total and under Conversion settings they should differ on "Value" tab, please see below the preferred value for each conversion actions:

Conversion Name

Recommended Value Setting

Purchase (wetracked.io)

Use different values for each conversion

Add to Cart (wetracked.io)

Use different values for each conversion

Begin Checkout (wetracked.io)

Use different values for each conversion

Pageview (wetracked.io)

Don’t use a value for this conversion (optional) / Use different values for each conversion and click "Edit default value" then set to "0" (Zero)

Once all four conversion actions have been created -- kindly save them and navigate to “Use Google Tag Manager.” From there, you will be able to view the necessary details — including the Conversion ID and Conversion Label for each conversion category — which you will need to input into our app.

This is also where you'll find the option to enable Enhanced Conversions. (please ensure to enable it)

  • If you don't see the Enhanced Conversions. Most likely, it was already active on your Google settings.
  • After pasting the Conversion Label into our app, simply click Agree and Finish to complete the setup.

Step 8: How to Add Pixel Details and Conversion label in wetracked.io

Return to your store inside wetracked.io.

  1. Click Add Conversion Actions
  • (it will appear Conversion actions such as Pageview, Add to Cart, Initiate checkout and Purchase)
  • Feel free to choose any conversion action that you want us to track

  1. Enter the Conversion ID and Conversion Label for each action (from Google Ads).
  2. Click Add Pixel → then Save.

Step 9: (Shopify Only) Add Custom Pixel Code

You don't have to do this step if you are using WooCommerce but if your store is on Shopify, go to
Settings → Customer Events → Add Custom Pixel, and paste the following code:

!function(t,i,p,s){(o=p.createElement("script")).async=!0,o.src="https://pixel.wetracked.io/shopify-pixel.js?shop="+t.init.data.shop.myshopifyDomain,p.head.append(o),i.ctx=t,i["wt:options"]=s}(this,window,document,{});

  • This script is always recommended to experience optimal tracking

🔍 Step 10: Sanitary Check and Optimization

There was two way of having a correct set up

Standard one

  • If Purchase is set as the only "Account default" and then all Conversion action (Purchase, Add to Cart, Begin Checkout and Pageview) can be set as Primary for Action optimization

Alternative one

  • If all Conversion action (Purchase, Add to Cart, Begin Checkout and Pageview) were set as "Account default" you have to ensure that only Purchase (wetracked.io) is set as "Primary" for Action optimization then the other conversion action (Add to Cart, Begin Checkout and Pageview) must be set as "Secondary" only
  • All conversion action which is set as "Secondary" will be used as an observer only and won't be counted under your "Conversions" overview tab. So it's better to keep Purchase (wetracked.io) as only Primary on this case.

Important notice: How to change Account default and Conversion action optimization

  • This video provides a quick walkthrough on how to update your setup so it matches either the Standard setup or the Alternative setup.

Things to remember

  • If you uses Multiple Tracking solution for Google and has Multiple Conversion actions created, you can set "Purchase (wetracked.io)" as "Secondary" for mean time and if you are already comfortable that wetracked.io provide correct data then you can set "Purchase (wetracked.io)**"" as "Primary" then set other Purchase as "Secondary"
  • Your conversion actions might appear as “Inactive” initially. This is normal and will update automatically once tracking data starts coming in.
  • If you want optimize to other conversion actions  (e.g., Add to Cart, Begin Checkout, or Pageview), go to Campaign > Conversion Goals, select Campaign-Specific, and choose your preferred event.
