How to disable the data-share of Facebook & Instagram app via Shopify?

We do not recommended using other tracking applications that also send data back to Ads Manager. This includes tracking apps provided directly by the ad platforms themselves. (e.g Facebook & Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and etc)

To prevent over-tracking issues—which can result in inaccurate reporting and affect ad performance—we strongly advise disabling your Pixel on any other tracking apps.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of disabling the data-sharing feature in the Facebook & Instagram app.

This ensures your Pixel is only sending data through wetracked.io, helping you avoid over-tracking issues.

  1. Go to your Shopify store and open Settings:

Log in to your Shopify admin and click on Settings in the lower-left corner.

  1. Select Apps & Sales Channels:

From the Settings menu, click Apps & Sales Channels. Here you will find the Facebook & Instagram app listed.

  1. Open the Facebook & Instagram App:
  • Click the Facebook & Instagram app icon and select Open Sales Channel.
  • Or, click the three dots beside it and choose Open Sales Channel from the options.

  1. Go to App Settings:

Once the app opens, navigate directly to the Settings section.

  1. Turn Off Data Sharing:

Scroll down until you see the Share Data option. Click the Change button, then toggle off the data-sharing setting.

✅ Once completed, the Facebook & Instagram app will immediately stop sending data to Ads Manager. This helps prevent over-tracking issues and ensures wetracked.io remains the sole source of tracking for your store.
