How to Fix "Catalog Match Rate" Issues on Meta?
This guide explains how to fix the Catalog Match Rate diagnostic warning in Meta Ads.
1. Understand the Issue
A low Catalog Match Rate or Product ID mismatch in Meta Events Manager or Commerce Manager means Meta cannot link your conversion events (ViewContent, AddToCart, Purchase) to the correct products in your catalog.
This happens when the Content IDs sent by wetracked.io do not match the Content IDs in your Meta Product Catalog.
To fix it, you need to:
- Check which Content ID format your Meta Catalog uses.
- Update your Content ID Template in the wetracked.io dashboard to match that format exactly.
2. Check How Your Content IDs Are Synced
Catalog Synced via Facebook or Instagram
If your catalog is synced through Facebook or Instagram, no changes are required.
In this setup, Meta expects Variant ID, which wetracked.io already sends by default.
Catalog Synced via Other Sources
If your catalog comes from another source, identify how the Content IDs are synced (Product ID, Variant ID, or Variant SKU).
You can do this through Commerce Manager:
- Go to Commerce Manager → Catalog → Products.
- Open any product.
- Check the Content ID field. This shows the exact format Meta expects.
3. Update the Content ID Template in wetracked.io
- Log in to wetracked.io.
- Open your Store.
- Scroll down to Meta Ads.
- Click the edit (pencil) icon.
In the Content ID Template section, set the format to match what your Meta Catalog uses.
- By default, wetracked.io uses Variant ID.
- If your catalog uses Variant ID, no action is needed.
- If your catalog uses Product ID or another format, update the template to match.
4. Example: Using Product ID
If your Meta Catalog uses Product ID as the Content ID, configure the Content ID Template in wetracked.io to use Product ID, as shown below.
5. Save Your Changes
Click Save after updating the template.
- From this point on, wetracked.io will send the correct Content IDs for all future events.
- You do not need to reconnect Meta Ads.
- The change takes effect immediately.
6. Verify the Fix in Meta Ads
- Go to Meta Commerce Manager → Catalog → Events.
- If the Content IDs now match correctly, the Catalog Match Rate warning will disappear within a few days.
